  • Finally it's going to rain the weekend

In the last thirty days there has been only one inch of rainfall with the bulk of .6 on 4/23.

Most of the urea that was applied in April volatilized.

Accuweather says there will be one inch of rain this weekend. On Monday I will just be getting to the aeration/overseeding on all the fall sports fields.

This puts me a good month behind schedule but it's nothing that I can't recover from if it finally starts to rain again.

It has been very dry here in MD also...................been bad for the aeration/overseed jobs I have done. Fortunately, customers have beeen watering lawns pretty religiopusly....so getting good results....but not as good as if Mother Nature were cooperating!

Same here in northern Illinois. Winter damage from plows, mice runs, dog urine/waste, are just now starting to turn around on those places not irrigated. We still aren't getting the good soaking we need.

        Another tale...,..

3.5 Inches in two separate storms between Wed. PM and Friday PM. Hopefully some of this will make it up your way.

the snakeoil salesmen love a drought....as they sell wetting agents to bozos who think it will help a dry lawn....

“There are some who, uh, feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is: Bring ‘em on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security situation. “ - George W. Bush, July 2, 2003.

                Professor Stone

The cattle in Florida are fat this spring dry season. We have had alot more than our normal Rain fall this spring. We are still one week away from our wet season and I have Puddles of water standing in my nursery today. Any other year I would be happy. But I still have some dirt work to finish because of the Hurricanes.

BTW the wet and dry seasons are different on the east coast of Florida than the inland and Gulf Coast.

                Dr Bizzaro

I just might argue with you about the value of Wetting Agents on certain types of soil and conditions. They do have their place. However I will agree on the Chemical Salesman thing. Most of them are on Commission.

                  Snakeoil availability

Snakeoil is virtually non-existent here on the EC of Fl. The shelves at Wal-Mart are always out of it. Please let me know if you identify a supply.
On another note I've also been unable to find a source of myrrh. I would like to stock up BEFORE the Christmas season and Wal-Mart again fails my needs every season. They always tell me to look for it in the mistletoe aisle. So wrong!

Ok it's the rain. I am sooo bored!
