ANTS!!! Diazamine?

Hi ALL!
What is the stuff called to get rid of simple black house Ants? Diazamine? It's a powder that you put down I was told.....but now I don't remeber what it's called!!

You might be thinking of Spectracide Diazinon. I believe it's been taken off the shelves here in MA.

1) If you are being paid to apply this, STOP. You are in violation of the law if you are not a LICENSED pesticide applicator. From the sound of things (the way you posed your question), you shouldn't be putting ANYTHING down until you are better educated on what the hell you are doing.

2) The US EPA has removed Diazinon (not just spectracide, as there were many registrants for Diazinon) from the shelves of garden centers, hardware stores, home improvement centers, etc. As of December 31, 2004, it is a VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW for ANY store to sell Diazinon as an outdoor, non-agricultural product.

Diazinon is an organophosphate, many of which have serious health and environmental implications. It is suspected (by now, shown) to CAUSE LEUKEMIA IN CHILDREN, WHICH IS WHY IT WAS PULLED FROM CONSUMER USE! THINK ABOUT THIS!

You should find another solution to your ant problem. If you are speaking of carpenter ants, start by finding the main nest, and all satellite nests (there will be a few of those). Not until then can you even begin to address this problem in an intelligent, and effective way.

If you know what kind of ants you have I could tell you what to use. But your best bet is to start with bait traps from the supermarket. Just remember Baits work slow because they must get into the food chain.
