To my knowledge Canada is the only country so far. It is kind of Ironic that in other parts of the world Both DDT and Chlordane are still being wholesale sprayed on food crops and these food crops are being shipped to both the states and Canada for consummation.

We banned chlorpyrifos a few years ago about the same time that it was banned for you. I am not totally against a pesticide ban but the ban that we have includes 2-4-d also.

We don't need to ban pesticide, Only put them in hands of Well Trained Professionals. Chemical Companies in there quest for the God Almighty Dollar have them available to every jerk in the world.

I believe we know the way to improve pesticide fall out to our environment. Unfortunately The God Almighty Dollar has gotten in the way. I miss several Chemicals there are no replacements for. Lindane being the one that I miss the most. Millions of trees are lost each year to boring type insects that Lindane could save. Call Me a Tree Hugger, but we can not afford to lose trees.

If this is the chemical I think it is...

Lindane if I'm not mistaken has been misused by every body & their brother that owns property or works on rental property. Mainly property management people use it to kill fleas & flea eggs. Cheap, Dangerous & WRONG way to solve a minor problem.

A few years back this guy that worked for a plantation was going around & spraying peoples houses for Roaches & Flees making extra money on the side. His boss should have educated him first.

He got a call back for it not killing the rodents, he went back & used a stronger mixture. It killed the peoples baby. Sad thing was the man had Grandchildren of his own & didn't know what he was doing because he didn't read the label & wasn't trained on usage of it.

Before I ever got into this business, I owned rental property & I had a guy try to get me to use it to kill fleas in a vacant apartment... I said no after reading the label, it's one of the few times before I got into this business that I actually read a label on anything? I read them all & I even read assembly instructions now! It takes longer but I make less mistakes!

Yep that is the right Chemical and it's brother Chlordane had a similar thing happen when some jerk tried to spray it in an attic to kill Dry Wood termites in NY. The house had to be torn down and sent to a harassers waste site at great expense. Corporate greed is ruining this country and I don't want to get started on that subject since my feeling are already public knowledge.

Gentlemen, What I meant by "I am not totally against a pesticide ban" I meant a ban against selling to Harry Homeowner. We have all had a customer that used Roundup on his driveway and figured that if it killed the weeds there it should work on the lawn also. There is also the guy who thinks that more must be better with whatever he is using.

I have been licensed to apply pesticide and fertilizer (10 years) in Canada and have operated a landscape maintenance company. (21 years) This is the first season that we were not allowed to use any pesticide or 2-4-d on the lawns that are in the city of Toronto. We asked the manufacturers if they were interested in helping us fight the ban at city hall. They replied that we were not big enough customers to justify the cost. That is when I learned that the whole landscape industry in North America uses only 4% of their total output.

I just wondered if anyone else was having to deal with this where they are
