  • Storing Fert, Pesticides & Herbicides

Does anyone know of any regulations regarding storage of pest and herbicides from a home-based business? Can these products be stored in a self-storage facility?

    Thanks

Good luck. Here in Ohio, they (the state ag agents) can show up at random. And they will expect to see where, and how, you are storing things. All of that should have been gone over (multiple times) when you went for your certification.

You are certified to apply those things, correct?

    Addendum:

I just read through the regulations. For you to even be asking that question, you must not be certified. I feel for you. They seem real hard nosed in RI. Your first offense very well may put you out of business in a very permanent fashion.

I'm sure the self-storage place would likely frown upon you putting proper signage up. You would also need a HEATED unit (yep, MUST BE PROTECTED FROM FREEZING), and it MUST have lighting as well. Also, NO FLOOR DRAINS, and NO WAY for any spill to seep out (including under the door).

    Good luck.

If you need a containment area for your chemicals. A child's hard formed swimming pool with work. Place 2 X 4 so the the legs of a shelf won't puncture the bottom and store chemicals on the shelf.

We needed to install air vents on our container to make it WSDA legal...everything needed secondary confinement, eye wash kits, and stupid safety signs, too.
