  • Lime application-bad time?

There a a couple of properties of mine that I didnt get to lime due to early snowfall. Now that the snow has melted, should I do it now, or would it be better to wait until spring?

Do it now. Lime can be applied any time of the year. It takes lime anywhere from 3 to 6 months to make a change in the pH anyway.

Now is fine, especially if the ground in your area isn't frozen yet. The freezing-thawing cycle of the ground over the course of the winter will help get the lime down into the soil....and like pow said it does take 3-6 months for te effect to u.,ccur.

You need to do a soil test to determine how much and what type of lime is required.

You want your pH to be as close to 6.5 as possible. Buy yourself a pH tester so you will know how many lbs per 1000 is needed.
