  • Another Lesco thread

I've been pleased with Lesco, but the only time I was there was to pick up 1000+ lbs of ice melt (which once I got it wouldn't ya know...it never snowed again. )

Anyhow, I need a place to buy good quality fertilizer from and was going to begin buying it from Lesco. Now I hear some people aren't satisfied with them..?? I don't know of anywhere else I can pick up quality fertilizer from. Being that I live in a smaller town my options are very limited. The closest Lesco dealer is some 100 miles away. It'd be a pain in the ass to drive such a distance, but I'd buy what I need well in advance to limit the amount of trips. Not sure about their delivery option....I'm too cheap for something like that! I've been buying fert. from the COOP, but I'm very displeased with the results. Are there any other sources which may be near me?

Also, what pre-emergent for crabgrass/weed control works well in granular form? Is Dimension the way to go? Barricide seems to be homeowner strength.

Lastly, no I'm not certified yet....2 weeks till the test.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Please with your Education do you really need some failed Lawn-boy counter clerk to tell you what to apply and when?? Lesco is right on the corner in every town and they have good products, BUT you PAY EXTRA for their location.

    Try UAP or Helena.

I used pendi last year for pre-em, not real excited about the results. I will use dimension this year, with the longer residual, I hope to have better preemergent weed control. I will however offer postemergent control as I believe this will be good $$$$$.

Look at the sports turf or gc products that the manufactors produce. Much higher quality of product.

Mastermower, go find the nearest gc superintendent, he can hook you up with some suppliers1

Lesco has a salesman, driving a semi truck that calls on gc usually every month, except in the winter

Buy your Lesco Dimension from Home Depot and save $5 a bag. Sure, I got 9% less product, but I saved 18% on the cost. I'd buy from Lesco if they had a better attitude.
