  • this is what i saw today........

i was finishing a job and noticed a SCOTT'S truck pull up on a corner lot. i am guessing it was 9 to 10k. anyway a guy gets out , opens the back doors of the van and gets a spreader out. he loads it up and gives 2 passes and comes back to the van. he puts the spreader back and drives off. 30 sec. later he is back. now he opens the side doors and pulls out the hose and in all of 5 min. is done. the whole deal was 10 min. he did put the calling card on the door knob. martin luther king would have turned over in his grave.lol.

Maybe it was a super spreader. You know the kind that shoots fert pellets like bullets. Each pass 50' wide.

1..Steve do you have any idea what he was spreading on the lawn and

2..Is this the time of the year when you start the fert program??? also

3..Because i havent read much on ferts lately if question #2 was not applicable do you fertilize all year round and does , or would fertilizing when the grass "looks dormant" be beneficial???

4.. If a lawn was low on (say nitrogen) "for example" and not growing because the cold weather, is it worth while to add this nutrient before the grass would grow anyway???

I know this probably all sounds like very stupid questions but just consider it like questions from lawn dummy 101 , as i don't feel up to searching older threads for "when should you start fertilizer program??? only to get list of threads that wont pertain to these basic questions.

      Thanks anyone, TRANNY......

Scott's and Trugreen are owned by the same company, it doesn't surprise me.

Yea...I have MY stock in SVM, earned in blood- buddy. Scotts isn't SVM!

BTW- SVM has payed a dividend each quater for like 20 years.....mine came discounted, below quote.....

Please don't confuse SVM with scotts.

              LONG LIVE RE-TREAD TIRES!!!!!!!!

                Good Doctor

At least Service Master Employees actually do the service work; whether it be TG Termix Stanly Steamer or Merry Maids Etc. 90% of Scotts fertilizer is manufactured by other companies and put in their bags.

Not unlike Service Master who is a marketing company first, that also provides service. Scotts is purely a Marketing company that bought the name Scott and doesn't produce hardly any of the produces. The Lawn Care division is not a Scotts employee company but rather franchisee operation. BTW have you noticed Scotts now has the right to use the name Roundup. Roundup is the most financially successful pesticide every sold and it was a mistake in the lab.

Mis-information? What ever believe what you like. Half the sh*t that comes out of our mouth has passed through a horses azz first. If you had half a brain and knew how to use it you would be dangerous.

What are you talking about being proven stupid? You haven't proven anything. All I get from the majority of crap you post is a bunch of hot air and you don't like the way I respond to it. Maybe the misinformed is yourself. I am done arguing with a bottom feeder.

Bozo...you eat too much corn or beef.

You stated that Scotts was SVM and it's not...someone corrects you and now you RAGE? WTF?!?

You said something stupid, nobody cares except YOU...just drop it!

I used to lay workers off and make people take HALF-DAYS so I could get my corporate bonus....I might as well worked at a concentration camp and loaded people onto cars. But hey- In USA, you gotta get yours or someone else will.

The only thing I hated over the years after SVM bought my life, was the phrase, " To Honnor God In All We DO " this is on EVERY SVM memo....drove me up the wall, then they banned BEARDS, too. I watched my 5 million $$ co. LOSE money after a year, and get worse...

Now- they closed down a 5 million branch and regrouped in a smaller building, lost it's market share, lost City Of Seattle accounts, and even anaged to put a RHINO in Lake Washington.....I'm glad my contract was up and I moved away to California. Go On Take The MOney and Run...

About a month or so ago CCLS was trying tell us True Green bought all of Lesco's Fert Production plants and I caught him on that. In a earlier thread he didn't know the difference in selective and non-selective herbicides. I have caught him on a few more that I can't remember right now. He is a real encyclopedia of miss-knowledge. Must be his farm boy education or lack of, out there in Fly Over country. Sorry Elmo.
