i see....good point. Ric is certified. Do you know of anything like this, Ric?Originally posted by jgc8fanThat's not exactly what I meant... Regardless of where you buy it from or if it says "commercial" on it or not it's still glyphosate which is an over the counter herbicide... Once you have your permit you can buy restricted chemicals (provided the label only says "warning" or is it "caution"??? not sure on which exactly). What herbicides??? Don't know, but some of the licensed applicators on here can tell you I'm sure... Unless RoundUp is the best there is. Why do I doubt that... BTW Good luck on Monday... Let us all know how it goes with getting the permit... Regardless of what some folks say about how "easy" it is... It's still a hell of a separation from you and us scrubs who can't even legally fart on a weed without getting jumped by the ag inspector.Originally posted by rustyt22i see....good point. Can't wait till my eligibility comes up this year... I was gonna try and get some questionable employment records to get it early, but decided I'll wait till I am truly eligible.

You guys need some very basic understanding of Pesticide Law. GUP vs RUP
GUP is a General use Pesticide that the general public can buy.
RUP is a Restricted use Pesticide that is restricted to certified pesticide operators only (or their employee in most cases)
Label restriction can be on either GUP or RUP products and can require only Certified Pesticide Operator use that product. The Label is the law and you should always read the label on any Chemical you use whether is is aspirin or pesticide.
The Term "For Professional use only" is a real gray area that for the most part is over looked because of other terms that better give restriction on that product. However if the label says that, then you should be certified to buy or use it. Chemical store will sell GUP pesticides to anyone, so the fact they sell it to non certified people doesn't mean it is totally legal.
Therefore without really reading the Label Jeff might be right about that product, but for the wrong reason. The Jug or bag can say Professional only, but it is the Label that is the law.
BTW as interesting fact about some of the EPA's laws. Some chemicals sold at Wally World in small packages are in fact high AI than those sold by chemical companies to certified operator because of the total technical grade chemical (or AI) in the package.

good idea comfortlawn. I guess that sign would help keep the ag inspectors from bothering you AS MUCH, while also proving to your community that you're legit and not a scrub (not that some of them even care)- Your home for Gator Tailgating and Gator Sports News and Forums.

Good post Ric. I knew there was a difference, but didnt know that there was a difference in something like non-selective herbicides. I know that "Lawn trail" is something that will kill beggar lice in FL, but only golf courses can use it. My pest control subcontractor cant even get the stuff. I guess thats the only example of a RUP that I know of, but thats an extreme one. Back to my question though, are there really different classifications on NON SELECTIVE herbicides like GUPs and RUPs though? I know there are on selective herbs, but I dont worry about them because I wont be able to use them anyway, because I can only spray in mulch beds and such. I cant spray lawns for weeds or anything. I still can't even use weed and feed from what I understand! hahahaOriginally posted by RicYo gang

I sorry but you are still so far out in left field I am not sure where to start to explain. I think maybe I need to write a full explanation of the law. That not going to happen today.
As far as applying Weed & Feed can tell you that you might get away with it. But if you would get caught you could face some heavy fines.
BTW Lawn tile that kills Beggar Lice, Just might be Lontel that controls Beggar weed.
PS You should take me up on the seminar about weed control and ornamental pest control. I also see a need to add in a section about the law as well.

RIC- you need to stop sending these guys out there full of big ideas and what-not.....someone's gonna get hurt.“There are some who, uh, feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is: Bring ‘em on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security situation. “ - George W. Bush, July 2, 2003.

They are already hurting themselves and just don't realize it. If I bust their chops it is for their own good, not mine.
I long time ago when I bought my first mower for business, there was a cartoon on the dealer's wall. It Read "We cheat ourselves and pass the saving on to you the customer." I laughed, but little did I realize at that time how true that statement was.

Ric- I may could also get away with spraying round up without a licence too, but if I get caught, could get big fined big time....Im going to be legit so that I dont have the chance to be fined. That's why I wont be using weed and feed until I have the appropriate licence to do so.
Youre right about the law. I dont know it, but will after my class (I hope). I will surely know more than I do today. This is the reason I asked you if there were any non-sel. herbicides that are not available to customers. If you dont want to answer with a simple "Yes. These non-sel. herbicides arent available to customers..." or "no, all non-sel. herbicides are available to everyone..." then you didnt have to answer at all. Saying that Im out in left field and dont know what Im talking about is pointless. You arent helping me or anyone else. Youre just showing your @$$. I already know that I dont know anyting about the law. If I knew, I wouldn't have asked.
About Lontel or whatever, I had never seen the product and was only told about it by our lesco dealer. This is the reason I was misspelling the name. Anyone know of anyhting else that takes care of beggar weed that is okay for licenced LCOs to use?- Your home for Gator Tailgating and Gator Sports News and Forums.

damn...you sure gotta mouth on ya!
Don't you have to purchase study materials? I remember each test had a book to review before testing...is it that way in Fl? Or is rusty taking the seminar before the test without study materials beforehand and is keeping his fingers crossed he'll pass, or even better- counting on passing because he took a course? I'm not sure...
Just remember the 3 D's to Pesticide Use:
Dump, down Drain, Drive off!!!

Their is nothing that a LCO can use to control Beggar Weed. How ever there are many chemicals that a PCO can use. Ask the PCO who is spraying you customers property to use it.
BTW if I don't show my A$$ how can you kiss it??? I went to school and spend my money, time and sweat to know what I know. Why should I give away what I paid so much for?? I think I am pretty good about give out a lot of information here on this forum. I try and answer every question ask of me. You do give alot of info out on this forum. A lot of it is very helpful and has helped my business in many ways, along with a lot of other people's help. For those posts, I have been very grateful and shown my appreciation (like in this very thread where I said "Great post Ric.....") I dont hesitate to show appreciation when it is owed, even though we've had numerous other arguments in other threads. The simple thing is that you dont have to be such an @$$ about knowing what you know.Originally posted by RicRusted

Im glad you went to school and sweated through years of work to get to where you are now. Im also glad that you post on these forums because you are very helpful *most* of the time. Im just not going to sit back and take your smart @$$ attitude when you get in a bad mood. If you want to help, great. If you dont, thats fine too. Just dont come in talkng to me with your old pissy attitude thinking Im just going to take it just because you've helped me out before. I'll give you the same respect you give me. You have every right to be a jerk, if you want. That's your right. But dont get pissed when I use my right to be a jerk right back at ya....- Your home for Gator Tailgating and Gator Sports News and Forums.

I only get a bad attitude when I am dealing with Stupid Jerks like your self. You kids think the world owes you a living. Wake up and smell the coffee. You only get back what you put into anything. Buy your self some books and start reading. BTW I am the 3rd person to tell you to read books in this thread alone. You live in Gainesville Fla. the Home of the U of Fla. and some of the best horticulture information on warm season horticulture in the world. I suggest you go to the University Book Store and stick your thumb up your ass.
