I think that its too early but Spring Green doesn't as I saw them out the other day. It was 35 degrees outside and this guy was spreading something granular on the lawns. Pre-m in our zone should go down around mid april to early may. I think its a waste to put it down now. I would plan on getting another snow or 2 before our season hits.

SOIL temp will tell you when crab and goose germinates
When I was in N Ill, the average application date was ~5/15 to 5/20 DIXON,ILL
Factors on when to apply
1)if on a fert carrier, what is the anaylsis of fert? What % slow release, source of nitrogen
2)turfgrass density
3)how long will the pre emerge material last
4)what is the estimate pressure of crab or goose grass?
5)hOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO MAKE APPLICATIONS TO ALL YOUR CLIENTS?
iF A GRANULAR PRODUCT THAT NEEDS MOISTURE TO ACTtivate, do the clients have means to water if not, and you are depending on mother nature, how soon before germination do you want to apply?
this any help?

I'm guessing you are using pendamethaline. Should be getting around 55 degrees, probably a little early. Dimension would give you a longer window, but then again, probably too early. I won't be putting any down till mid April myself where I am.Originally posted by PTLlandscapingILis it 2 early,i was planning on getting a head start on my fert apps for the year, im gonna puit my step one own which is pre-emergent crabgrass control 22-0-6 is it to early????
