Getting Ready To Give A Price To Several Clients For Fertilization Apps. How Do Most Of You Charge For Fert, Fall / Spring Pre-emergent & Liming Apps. Time & Material Or Square Footage? Just Curious. Any Help Appreciated.
    Thanks,

cost of product/coverage on lable at recommended rate = cost per 1,000

that # multiplied by your coverage area of the property = cost of MATERIAL for that given property

then add on your cost to do the application or overhead costs. It's that easy boss..

That's a great way to never make the same amount of money/app.

For example, if you are applying fert plus dimension to a 5,000 sqft yd, it may cost you $7.00 or so in material.

BUT... if you were applying fert plus Mach 2 your material cost per thousand is greater so your app. cost/1000 is now less unless you charge a different rate for grub treatment.

If I sound rude, please forgive me, I am just speaking from the way I do things....

You would use a yearly program and average the cost per application so you can use a set amount for each app. It would be different if someone calls just for grub treatment and they are not set up on regular maintenance.

Example: step 1 is $1.20 per 1k in cost. step 2 is $1.20. step 3 is $1.00. Step 4 is $3.00. and step 5 is $1.00 per 1k. You would have the customer sign an annual agreement so you now know that your average cost per app is (1.20 + 1.20 + 1.00 + 3.00 + 1.00) = 7.40 / 5 (apps) = average cost of $1.48 per app per 1000 sq ft. Add your profit and you have the same price for each app. Sounds better than charging 5 different amounts for each app and it is easier that way.

Same thing for mowing. You usually don't charge more in the spring and less in the summer. You charge the same per cut and have them on an annual agreement.
