I have a question about applying fertilizer here in Texas. I live in the Dallas area, and it's my understanding, that if you are applying only fertilizer, as part of your lawn service, you do not have to have an applicators license. However, any fertilizer applied that contain pesticides then you must be licensed? Any clarification on this would be greatly helpful.

Insured?
If you have any doubts about licensing contact your County Extension Office, because if there's any problems he'll be one of the people you deal with.
Please be careful with the fert, Ive had folks complain about going over the property line. Another guy I know didn't blow off concrete surfaces after applying the fert & it left stains on concrete, they got a free pressure washing at his expense & was also accused of making pool ladder & diving board rust. It cost him too.
If there's any way possible folks can complain these days about anything, most will do it. Most are living beyond their means these days too so if they can get something replaced for free or can get money out of you... They'll do it so they don't have to use their charge card at my shop purchasing a .95 flywheel key or a $1.50 pull rope? Sad but true. Over 85% of all sales & repairs are now charged.GrassMaster, LSF Administrator!

bcg, thanks for the information. I just finished talking to the Pesticide Dept at A&M and they told me the exact same thing, I can lay fertilizer as long as it does not contain any pesticides.
Also thanks to Grassmaster, getting insured was my next question if I did not need a license for fert apps. Once again, I greatly appreciate the input.

You need it! If it's required or not?
I've learned the hard way when dealing with the public & doing business with them... Insurance is a must have, more like a necessary evil required by law or not!Originally posted by flyinjranchAlso thanks to Grassmaster, getting insured was my next question if I did not need a license for fert apps. Just trying to help you from past experiences of my own & others!GrassMaster, LSF Administrator!

Once again, GrassMaster, thanks. Eventhough, I have not been a member of the forum that long nor do I have many posts, I have found a plethora of useful information. I've spent most of my time going through the numerous pages of posts reading and gathering a great deal of useful information.
Once again thanks, GrassMaster, and keep up the great work with the forum.
