what is the best grass fertilizer out on the market for hot climate weather here in california high desert theres a lot of customersw complaing about brown spots I need to know of a good remedy or a darn good fertilizer

what's causing the brown spots? Is it the fert? Do you have a fungus? Is it dogs? Is it being fertilized with too much nitrogen too late in the season? Are the brown spots round? Do they have any red/pink mixed in? Before I put more fert down I think I would find out the problem first.
