I have never heard of Lime Dust used to keep snakes away, However Moth Balls will semi work to suppress them. The environment in the area you are trying to control as well as the surrounding areas is more important.

Please understand snakes are part of the natural environment and keep mice and other creatures suppressed. As long as you are not dealing with poisonous snakes just leave them alone.
