  • what type of setup ?

for the guys who have pesticide licenses, what type of setup do run? do you have a separate trl. with a spray unit with a pump and tank ? do you just apply granular products and spot spray for weeds? or something totally different? do you still mow or just do applications?

    Setup

I have a 16ft trailer with 200gal sprayer, room for a pallet of granular and a perma green (I do not own a perma green; however have a agreement with a large LCO who does). I also carry a walk-behind spreader.

when I go out to do fert/squirt I will usually do a whole day of that, I have an enclosed trailer set up for mowing. The sprayer trailer doubles for leaf duty in the fall.

A large percentage of my work is granular. I also do a fair amount of spot spraying with backpacks, although I do have ten gallon greens wheelie for larger areas. I carry pesticides on the mowing traler on a regular basis for spot apps. As this is only my 2nd year, I am edging into lawn apps more & more, money is much better. Plus, you are able to keep your clients properties in much better condition in regards to controlling weeds, as we are usually there every week.

Enclosed trailer houses a perma green centri. Back packs for different spot spraying and enough granular for the day (skids get delivered to the shop and stored, enough material is loaded for the day in the trailer). Large spray is done by lesco 200 gal tank sprayer. Small granular is either lesco spreader or spyker 88.

Be patient, you will get more responses over the next several days...

I was mostly granular, but I'm going more into liquids. The granular has its place, but there is more profit via liquid since you can combine your products into a big ****tail. I have a 200 gallon spray tank w/ 200' of hose for my lawn herbicide/fertilizer/fungicide; a 150 gallon spray tank w/ 150' hose for my tree/shrub spraying; and on order is a 150 gallon spray tank w/ 300' of hose and a flow meter for my non selective herbicides.

I have multiple Solo tanks, so I decided it would be more convienient to invest in multiple tanks on skids so I don't have alot of tank wash to deal with or the possibility of cross catamination.

AH gee GM, the bleeped out word is a legit word that usually refers to an alcholic beverage mixture!!!

Anyway, alot of guys are put off by the face costs of flowables like Gallery. Its costs me $139/#, but depending on what you want to control, you will use .66-1.33# per acre. If my math is correct, that's about $.002 to $.004 per sf. in material costs.

I do own a Perma Green centri, but I perfer the tank sprayers in smaller areas.

I have a carrier rack (home built) for my Permagreen, that attaches to both my pickup and my 1 ton (with an extension). Occasionally, the Permagreen will go with me on the mowing trailer if I happen to be going out mowing. I do this when I am going out to an area that would be more logical to just do when I'm out there, so I don't have to make a second trip.
