Do you guys usually sell programs(however many number of apps thru the year)
or do you mainly shoot for one time app, spot treat or all?

How do you guys do your pricing, meaning by the app or for the whole program?

How much do you charge for spot treatment, program, or one time visit? I know it may vary with app, and overhead, but shoot a ballpark.

BTW...I'm not certified and I don't apply anything. I have tossed the idea around but I do more than mow now as it is, but if I can do something that makes me more money for my time. If im not able to do it legally then I won't do it at all. I am just curious and in hopes of starting a decent thread. If you don't want to disclose the info because of unlicensed scrubs lurking then please don't trash the thread just let it die.

looks like this forum is taboo mike. i sell the fall deal as one which includes aeration, seed and 3 rounds of fert. here in va. you have to have a license even for fert. for this upcoming season, the pre-emergant will be per application as well as any summer applications. i really don't want any one time deals because it is an ongoing process to keep a yard looking good.as far as pricing goes.........taboo.

Season long programs. Contracts sent out about now. Listing of all applications by when and what is being applied. On the back is information on the pesticides being applied. This must be signed and returned before any application is made.
For price- definately enough to cover my insurance, initial pesticide course, yearly credits, my knowledge, my experience, my time, and materials. I do give a 10% to people who pay by mid March though.

        Mike,
I've had my ornamental and turf only for one year. I apply only one time and maybe a followup in 14 days (post emergent). I don't have enough experience or knowledge to set up an annual program, but that is where I'm headed. As stated above, I think year around treatment will keep the yard looking best. I have to ID the pests (weeds) then determine best course of action (chemical, time of application, life cycle of the pest, etc). Down the road with experience I hope I can apply the right preemergent/post em over the coarse of the year to make it profitable and produce a good service.

Rich is this for legal reasons for your area, if so it could be for mine also? Or is it just for your records?

Do any of you have a flat rate per sq. ft. for granual or liquid? For example like $5 per 1000K.

          Thanks for responding guys.
I did get your pm Steve...thanks

Pretty much about the same thing I do. I've gotten a lot of contracts back already. Only difference with mine, is when I get signed contracts back, I automatically just mail them a complete set of label copies of what we apply. In NY, you also have to show a 21 day window of time on the contract when you will do the applications. No applications without signed contract. Mike, in all honesty, if you know where your costs are totally, & what profit you need to generate, then you will know what to charge. For me, license costs, business cost per year, recert credit training costs, equipment, all adds up. Can't do it for free.

one time shots can pay bills, too- let go of your control freak ego- and see that Liquid Iron and Urea is cheap......

JR yes I understand the costs of doing business.

What im asking is you have your costs of doing business or basically what you need to make to break even.

Do you take your cost say $10 in material and charge say $20 or $30 plus your figured time? Or do you use a generic, but figured cost per sq ft. like $6 per 1000k to figure your price.

A 10000 sqft lawn would be $60 per app. just for example.

Like I stated earlier, I don't apply anything now, and don't know if I ever will. I am just curious as to what you guys have going on. I have so much going on with home repairs for customers this off season I am looking forward to mowing.

Really depends on your application. Putting down an app of merit or a fall app is gonna vary hugely .

Mike, you ought to call around and have a few companies come out and give you bids. I bet ya most will have similar programs they'll sell you on - plus to boot you'll see the prices. You might be shocked!
