  • Orange Spikey Worm...help!!!

I have a blue passion flower vine in my own yard. It is on the side of the house I don't go on too frequently. I went over there yesterday and there are tons of these orange worms with black spikes all over, crawling and eating the leaves of the vine. It is looking horrible. The longest one I saw was probably 3 inches long and FAT. What are these things called and what can I spray to kill these things?!?!? I'll try and get a picture tomorrow. Thanks guys!

Not sure about where you found them, but based on your description of them I would guess them to be Spiny Oakworm, Anisota stigma.

Man, I looked and looked on the net, and couldn't find anything but the spiny oakworm seems to be the closest match. Thanks guys.

Those were most likely Gulf Fritillary caterpillars, passion vine is there host plant.

                      Promo,

I did some research on the GFCs and they more closely ressemble what I had. Luckily what I used killed them anyway...whatever they were. Thanks!

I have passion vine for the caterpillars. The vine comes back fuller after they eat it. If you can grow pentas that is one of the nectar plants for the gf butterfly. I usually have about 5 different species of butterflys flying around at once.
