  • Cultural Control Of Bermudagrass In Fescue

i got my virginia turfgrass journal in the mail today and they had an article about this. it seems NC STATE did a study where they planted bermuda into plots of fescue and then raised the mowing height to 4" (i mow at 3.5"). over the course of the season they completely killed off the bermuda without using herbicides. they also listed different mixtures of herbicides that worked good. tenacity, turflon, and acclaim mixed together in one nice c o c k tail had the best results with 6 applications giving 98% control.

I wonder if the same applies for St.Aug. I had to completely replace a lawn due to Bermuda encroachment. I have another lawn where the same is happening. She's just waiting for there to be more Berm. that St Aug before she rips it all out. Hmmmmmmm.

yea that ncda is pretty thourough they do all of our test and classess. there the ones that did a study that heritage can be used at half rate. i think that mowing will deff not work for me . i know from experience , my first couple years you couldnt pay me to cut a lawn under 4 inches, and i still had combo yards, im not sure about all that , im sure they posted that but im not sure about that .
