I do soil tests on an annual basis and outline programs for homeowners during my slow periods. This is something that many flustered homeowners that take care of their own lawns respond to and love.
The lawn that has the right nutrients and ph can handle stress of drought and traffic much better.

I only do a soil test for sports fields.

Any other new business gets some starter fertilizer and some lime. If that does not work then compost is top dressed. If that does not work the paving crew takes over.
