  • Expansion in Canada

I run a small but moderately profitable lawn care business in Atlantic Canada. In only my second year I find at this junction it is easy to run my small 20 client base. Although next year I plan to increase this number, I'm looking to expand from lawn mowing and debris removal to fertilizing and liming. I've limed and fertilized by request of some of my clients, but i generally have no knowledge of the industry.

From doing about an hour of reading per night I try to learn as much on this topic as possible but one question which i have is do I need to be a certified fertilizer user.

In my city, no chemicals are allowed, everything is pelleted and organic. Does this make a difference.

I'm constantly looking for ideas and comments.
Please reach me with either at my email address - dionpayne@yahoo.ca

Thank-you for your time, I really enjoy reading these posts.

    Thanks

You need to check local ordinances and see what the requirements are. Here in N.Y. if its any type of pesticide you need the license. If it is straight fert or organic, limstone then nothing is needed. Look into aeration and overseeding. With no pesticides this will be a big part of your program.Good Luck
