Interseted in knowing the easiest and fastest way to apply liquid fert. and herb. to residental lawns? Saw a crew using hose wands (2) and a large tank. they sprayed the lawn in sweeping motion. is this technique standard? we spray putting greens and other g.c. areas ride on spayer with booms. seems the rates would be hard to calculate with the wand.

Use a commercial spray gun (Lesco gun) and walk at a steady speed and its as accurate as a boom sprayer, if not more. I'm a commercial applicator in Minnesota and I use this to fertilize and apply herbicide in combination.

Using a chemlawn gun is what the standard has been for close to 30 years, and very sucsessfull at that too.
However there are better ways now a days.
the ride on sprayer spreaders are the way this part of the industry is heading.
1) only apply herb/pest-acide only to aera's of need reducing the amount used putting more money in your pocket.
2) Liquid fert in slow release rates mixes are expensive compared to granular.
3) you can get more control of your fert using granular.
