  • controlling dollar weeds

I have read that some people use a product called "Image", and others use "Atrazine", to help control dollar weeds. Has anyone had any success using these products or is there another manner in which you handle them.

      Hello Jack:

Go here for Info on Atrazine:
      http://www.cdms.net/manuf/acProducts.asp

If you don't know the Manufacture, you can just do a Search in the Upper left for the Chemical you want to know about!

      Here's the Maufactures Page:
      http://www.cdms.net/manuf/manuf.asp

And of Course the Home Page:
      http://www.cdms.net/pfa/LUpdateMsg.asp

They carry most all Label, MSDS & Other info about chemicals in the Green Industry.

I've never had any luck with using atrizine on dollar weed. The Image you get at HD or Lowes is a less potent version of what a speciality store could get you. I use either straight 2-4d, Speedzone or Trimec (both of which have 2-4d)

I found a local Economy Feed & Seed store that sells Image. The closest places in our area that sells Speedzone and Trimec are in Alpharetta, and Winder, Georgia, which are on the opposite side of the state. thanks for the adivce

most nurserys carry 2-4d and it's a whole lot cheaper than Image. Under $10 for a quart of 2-4d. I'll pay close to $100 for a quart of Image. Now I haven't done a cost comparison of the two to where 2-4d you'd use something like 2oz per gallon and Image you'd use like 1 tablespoon per gallon.

Dollar weed---Pennywort---Hydrocotyle bonariensis is a hydrophilic plant. Therefore use culture practices to suppress it. Chemical controls are effective only if cultural practices are followed.
