Brown Patch Question???????

i have this yard, four year customer, never had brown patch. she has it only in the front which is on a pretty good bank. the front is not very thick and stays dry due to run-off. the back is pretty much flat, super thick grass, and moist. i don't do heavy nitrogen apps in the spring. it hasn't really been hot here although it has been wet. i'm baffled on this one. if anything, the back should have it because of the conditions. any thoughts...........

i sent a letter out to all my deals that don't have sun in the morning on their yards. i'm hoping they will now go with my fungiside program that i have in place.

Look up something called Actinovate. No not the stuff your girlfriend Jamie Lee uses to keep her regular. Anything the helps the rhizosphere, just do it. First thing I would do is drop some compost on the spots, but that's just me. It's like yogurt for your lawn.

The product looks very user friendly- with the term used loosely. I like the fact that it doesn't require adgitation keeping suspention in solution, can be applied dry or wet and that it contains living spores. Very interesting. Nice going Hardboiled. Once I figure out who my service provider is I'm planning to purchase the product.

At $100 for 18 oz that stuff isn't cheap! Not sure I could push that off on my customers, but maybe for my own lawn. :alien:

back to my OP, if i was to take all 3 of my yards and list them for prime conditions for a rhizoctonia disease, this one would be at the bottom of the list. i have another that is pretty much the same layout except that her front has the morning sun and her back stays wet. i don't do the chemicals on this one but do know the guy goes crazy with his fert. her front is eaten up big time and her back is disease free. as you said, it can strike anywhere.

no, i send my samples off to a place called A & L Eastern Laboratories in richmond,va. i just happen to have last years sample for this yard. these are the results.....ORGANIC MATTER...5.7%, PHOSPHORUS...124, POTASSIUM...210, MAGNESIUM...120, CALCIUM...1230, ACIDITY...4.6, C.E.C...12.3, PH...5.3. this customer chose not to do anything to this yard as my price was too high and as far as i know she didn't put anything down herself. FYI, she needed 8 bags of dolemetic lime in split apps to bring the MG up in line with the MG to C ratio which is way off at 10 to 1. most of my yards are just the opposite having low C readings.
