This one starts of with a call from someone who's seen my service in a new area at the begining of the year from accross the street from one of my new accounts.
A true to it your self individual.
While I was placing down pre emergent, She was killing all her weed with r-up.
I don't know if this has been a normal routine of hers that she initiates year after year but, the lawn did get control. And was clean from weeds................at the begining.
So,
................here we are in July and she wanted an evaluation. So, I go over, and imidiately I noticed she had used MSMA all over her lawn, which by now is taken over with crabgrass. It's all yellow. When I go to the back yard to measure up the Sq. Footage, I look at the different kinds of shrubs she has and see that shes had previous herbicide damage. She, is in side the house during the evaluation when I finish up so I ring the door bell.
Before I quoted the price I mention the herbicide damage to the shrubs, and she tells me that she didn't spray any weed control in the back. So, I take her to the back yard and point to the various shrubs that are retarded from what I suspect is easter formulation of 2,4-d or was applied at high rate and applied on a windy day. This was the worst herbicide damage that I've ever seen in my 16 years of spraying.
She, tells me she didn't spary anything?
So, I show her that the damage is approximately 6" from the tip of new growth. (the new growth not being affected)
But, the worst tell tail sign was when I pointed to her 16' tall pin oak that was bent 90 degrees and not full and errect.
I explain that If I was to have full control of her lawn, that I was to have FULL control over her lawn, and if I see that during the program I see damage of this extent I would have no choice but too cancel the program.
I told her I didn't want to replace any damage that wasn't caused by me.
As we walk back too the front and after quoting a rediculus inflated price, she stated that she had another lawn care company that was going to evaluate her lawn and I would be notified if I got the job
It will be kind of interesting who will be her next lawn care provider will be, and if they see what I did
