  • Learning the ropes

    How did y'all become so knowledgable about Applications, rates, products etc. I would very much like to learn about the piece cause I would eventually like to add to my lawn care. Yes, I know abiut ins, cert. part I've got the test.

    I know I can't learn over night & something I'll be a student of 20 years from know.

    Where should I start. Books, dealers etc
    Help Please.

    Go to your local county extension office, they will have a lot of free info on applications and might be able to sell you some books on the topic.

    You need to start out by being able to identify weed species, growth patterns and reproduction of the plant.

    Heres a link to Virginia Tech weed identification guide. They give you a lot of information plus pictures of the weed species. Once you are able to identify weed varies and growth pattens in your area, only then will you be able to treat them properly.

        Call your local cooperative extension service ... they hold pesticide classes, have the study materials ... very modest fees, and testing for the license.

          Soon My local extension is having a class for like $15 and includes license fee. I know its not for commercial but at least you get some good basic training.
