• Broadcast/Drop

What do you guys prefer broadcast for speed or drop for accuracy? I think I heard in a previous post you can get both in one spreader, close valves for certain patterns, and open valves to drop large stones etc is this all true?

Drop on small lawns..
Broadcast on large lawns..

Any change in spread pattern with a broadcast spreader is less visible when the lawn is larger. I prefer broadcast just to save time but if you buy a good spreader, you shouldn't have a problem with it not being accurate regardless of whether it is a drop or a broadcast.

If you are only going to have one, I would say get a broadcast. The drop spreaders are only good if you are applying products with granular weed control.

I would have to mirror Mariner's comments.

I can see where the broadcast spreader would be the first choice as Mariner said. I have the drop spreader but am picking up the broadcast spreader to cut own on time for larger lawns. They both have their uses, but if I were to do it over again I would have bought the broadcast spreader first.

Is a broadcast spreader any good for granular weed control?

I've never used granular weed control but I know that those granulars have to stick to the weeds which, to me, is taking a long shot. I believe liquid is the best weed control.

I have the lesco broadcast/drop spreader

·Broadcast larger area
·Drop spreader good for the small area (parkway) separates the side-walk to the grass street area
·There is also an attachment you can add on to stop broadcast while going around flower beds
So I use all function on my spreader of course it was $400 spreader on sale and since I have it I use it. I can do with out it but its much easier for me to use like it was intended. Besides I like whistle and bells! LOL
