  • help with crabgrass

I have a new account that is riddled with crabgrass. I offer both fert and weed control but my target is mainly broadleaf with the products I use. What is the best product available to control crabgrass in particular. I have both spray and broadcast capabilities and I am looking for the cheapest most effective method. Any advice welcomed. Thanks

I don't know of anything selective to kill crabgrass. The best that I know of is to hit it with a nonselective (like Acclaim) then start from scratch by seeding or sodding.

Mariner the product you mentioned is a SELECTIVE PRODUCT.

In the future try reading the label of the product first before you spew forth misinformation.

There are also other selective products available but a real licensed applicator SHOULD already know this information.

Pesticides in the hands of the ignorant is a recipe for disaster.

If you havent appliied a granular pre emergant i would get on it. you can locate a selective herbicide to do spot treatments with. You will first have to get educated on the use of them because its not fertilizer. whole differant ball game altogether. You should drop the cheap theory. If this guy cant afford to exterminate his crabgrass than id back out. dont expect to get all of it out this year or next year for that matter but persitance will pay off in a short period of time w/ an intelligent program.

Well I know of at least 3 products that will do the above.

Mariner don't give advice about pesticide applications on warm season turf when you don't even have any real experience working will cool season turf.

Next time you look at the location of where the actual job is located.

                    Mr. Stone

I must agree with Mariner for once. You are antagonistic toward him.

Western Civilization believes that all men are equal. Please be kind an enough to treat the ignorance with a little respect. They have big feeling and weak minds. Therefore they are unable to deal with being put in their place. Please show a little compassion to these unfortunates. They all ready have enough problems with non-English speaking illegal immigrates that are taking their jobs.

Stone, even after all the crap ive seen you get wrapped up in on this board i still really do have a good suspicion that you may out weigh us all in pesticide turf application. However you are extremely combative which for me instills a good deal of skeptisism on alot of your opinions. I look forward to your posts when im cloudy on something because i believe you hold knowledge. When you attack others on this board it might be a little funny but its doing your image more harm than theyre's. Just something to think about if you care. as for you ric i figured you out already. i knew you would pop up when i saw this start last night. your so predictable. you dont have to rescue stone every time. he is capable.

I don't live in Texas, but in Iowa I use Dimension for pre-emergent control. Some people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to turf pest elimination. Depending on your situation and the extent of the crabgrass, you could use a selective herbicide to spot spray individual plants. If your turf is over-whelmed with crabgrass and your customer wants an immediate fix, you might want to do what Mariner suggested by using a non-selective herbicide and reseeding or sodding areas.

Great thread. No mention of grass type from the inquirer, but plenty of answers, nonetheless.

Boy, that Stone sure is something else, hunh? How DARE he admonish someone for spouting out an answer that is so far off the mark . . .

Geez, just because a guy is 100% wrong on something is no reason to jump on him. It's not like it's a big deal or anything. . .

Labels? No biggie. As long as the price is clearly marked, no need to read it. And the turf type? Grass is grass. What the hell else do you need to know.
