hi guy's, i'm in NY and we had a major drought last summer, my lawn completely burned and pretty much blew away like dust, i'm left with huge areas of topsoil with no grass. i also had a major weed bloom last summer.

now my question is what to do? i realize i have to do a major reseed but what do i do for weed control on a new lawn when the weeds start to show in late june? i can't start a new lawn early spring and put down fertizer with weed control at the same time right....

i'm not looking for the perfect lawn, just something green that will hold dirt......thanks in advance for any help fellas.

Not true. Look for Tupersan. This is a pre-emergent which allows seed to germinate while preventing crabgrass from growing. There are also post emergent weed control products available as well for use on new lawns.

Burned or got eaten by something? Irrigation system working properly? Get out and reseed (or better yet- sod) your topsoil areas. Get a good seed and as posted above use a starter fertilizer with tuppersan. Get a healthy stand of turf and stay on a regular schedule of mowing at the right height and ferterilizing at the correct times and rates. What does your soil analysis show?

Ron Howard: Is that... vodka... and wheat grass?
Homer: It's called a "lawnmower". I invented it. Want one?

        Pesticide & Fertilizer Applications

Appreciated your thoughts with the NY resident with the drought problem. Although we didn't have a drought problem I did have a problem with crab grass and other types of weeds. Does anyone have any information on the use of a hypro pump to use on applying pesticides? I have heard they work well and I have about an acre that needs fertilizing as well as pesticide.
