  • Texas Pesticide Exam

Any of you guys taken the exam? Specifically the ornamental and turf. If so, got any advice on what to focus on while studying. I have the 3 books but there is a lot of info to cover. It would help to be able to eliminate some things. Thanks.

Being able to I.D. weeds, diseases, insect damage, grasses, top of list along with remedies to correct. I'd say go cover to cover 5 to 10 times.

          Texas Pesticide Exam

I just ordered the study materials. Have you taken the exam? What is your advice to study if you have taken the exam? Thanks.

I took the WA exam years ago and the exam was tough; if it was easy, everybody would have a license. Study everything and get somebody to quiz you. Once you pass the exam, go to all the continueing education requirements. Thats because you never want to have to take that exam again.
I passed weeds, insects, and disease control, and I'm rated for agricultural and ornamental spraying.

I was wondering the very exact info. I talked with the extension office and got all of the requirements. If I understood him correctly, the follow up classes are yearly and manditory for you to keep license.

My largest problem is that I was horrible in school. Found it very hard to retain all the information. Im very much a hands on guy. Needing this for my businees makes this very important and quite stressful.

There is alot of information to take in. take the test and if you fail the first time, you'll know what you have to study more. I found weeds easy, diseases so so, an insects are the toughest. Be sure to have a calculator and math was never a strong point with me.

It is said that the longer you are out of school, the harder it is to take exams. Studying is easiest if you have somebody to study with and quizing each other.

When I took my test, I was so sure I failed; but I did pass and was actually in the 80% and above. You only need 70% or more in each catagory to pass.

                Good luck.
