  • Anyone near Central FL ? or elsewhere can give guidance

I am looking to subcontract a bid for weed killing. This is a huge commercial site. Is there anyone here in CF that would want to give a bid?

If not in CF, how does one go about hiring a subcontractor to do this work? Is it simple as taking their bid and adding something to it. I would hope that the person wouldn't try to steal my job from me. It is a large commercial site that the previous owner went bankrupt on. The site is overgrowing and being taken over by weeds.

    Thanks
    Christian

for herbicides contact a local outfit to be a 'partner with you' that you give their name and they give your name. most companies in central florida charge a base fee of $38-$55 for coming out and spraying for st augustine or bahia. the charge is between $6.00 and $8.00 per 1000 sq foot for weed, feed and pest control. so if you have 10,000 sq feet they will charge somewhere between
$60 and $80.00 for each application. some require a years contract 4 times a year or they charge a higher price for a single application $7-10 per 1,000 sq feet.

I am hooked up with two companies here and have given them about 30 jobs and they have given me a total of 3 mowing contracts.

Unless you are licensed in florida for pest and weed control don't do it. you can till you get your first order from the state to stop but after that they cut your ba__ off and it ruins your sex life.

Thanks for the tip dave. Yeah I can see these things are getting pretty bad. Some of them are over two feet high. THe grass is dead. the building is abandoned and is up for sale. But no one has anymoney to pay for the landscaping because the company that owned it went bankrupt.

So it keeps getting worse. I am going to talk to the real estate guy tommorrow and see if I can work out some kind of deal with him.

          Suggest this ...

#1 ... make sub contacts (but) have them sign a non-compete before you send or tell account names ... out to look at your leads ... YOU own the work, bill it, not them. Make sure you get a decent share of that action ... 10% to 20% or whatever the traffic will bear. You bill & collect from customer, then send the subs share to them.

Remember ... non-compete first, faxed back to you ... they look at jobs ... get back to you directly (not the client) ... then you deal price with client. Own the work or give up the power.

          Phil

P.S. Get cash for this ... mowing referrals might come might not.

Why don't you just get licensed and do it yourself. If its big enough, then you'll make some decent money to buy the equipment. You'll eventually get more customers.

If you do decide to sub...definitely get a non compete signed(which will be hard) otherwise it will soon become their account anyways. Trust me, if it is a decent size property, just do it yourself. You could spend a half a day there with a backpack sprayer at the very least and still make money. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother with subing. It's not worth it. I've tried it in the past and have had nothing but negative experiences with it. The little money you make alone is enough to steer me away.

              Weed Control Bid in CF

              Hi Christian,
I may be able to help. First recognize that unless the site you mentioned is a golf course, park, or cemetary, you will have to give it out to a licensed pest control company. Here's the bad news. No, you cannot sub it out. Florida statutes (482) are very specific about who can write a pest (weed) control contract. Only a state licensed pest control company can contract this type of services, exempting all areas defined as agriculture as per FS 482.
By the way, all of this does not mean you cannot derive finder fee funds or something like that. With such a large property you should be entitled to it.
              Good Luck
