I am planning on adding fertilizing to my company, for next yaer i really have no experience. but i am always asked to do it? so i might as well start. i am just curious on the best way to get the sguare footage , would it be better to use a measuring wheel or just roughly estimate by walking it off foot over foot? also once you get your total footage how much do you charge to spread per sq foot? I plan on starting out with the scotts slow release granular ferts. on the four steep program. thanks for taking the time to read this i would really apprechate your opinions.

Wheel it off. Don't guess. Most of Scotts programs have a pesticide app. in them. You will need to be certifide to put it down.

Use a measuring wheel for accuracy. If you don't know how big the property is, how do you know how much product to put down?

Your application cost is determined by your product cost, over head, and profit. Put your figures into the equation and get your price.

It's important that you measure the properties accurately as possible, and definitely with a measuring wheel. You will base everything for usage and pricing on what you have in sq footage for yards. Pricing may vary from $3.00-$8.00 per thousand square foot depending on a number of variables you will have to determine. What's your cost of overhead, equipment, and materials? what do you expect to make in doing applications? What is the competition, the density the potential of your market? Sure you might be able to answer things quickly but really need to do the homework in order to make it a profittable adventure.
