  • Soil Conditioners...Do they work?

First time on this website and I think it's phenomenal!!! I have a question regarding soil conditioners. Has anyone used them in place of core aeration with any success. My bussiness is in North
Jersey, and most soil are quite hard when you go to a depth of
3-4 inches. I have used the "Ryan" aerator which punches down
into the ground. Though it does a fabulous job, it is not very cost effective. In addition I believe this process does not solve
    the compaction problem permanently. Thanks.

a soil conditioner is more suited for a renovation, sod or a new lawn install. they aren't going to replace aeration. if you're having a problem with clay you might want to add gypsum or perlite.

you can't solve compaction permantly. running mowers across a lawn, people moving across the lawn, etc. etc. are always going aid soil compaction. thats why we sell aeration services.

If you did an aeration and a top dressing of compost or fresh soil, that would help a lot.
