Mike nailed it exactly. This was new sod layed down after the fact. Looks like it got fertilized as well. The rest looks dormant, but that is just my uneducated guess. I will read up on it some more at UofF

The adult is about 1/5 inch long, light in color with small black triangular patches on the wings. Symptons are that the grass will turn yellow and wilted, and start turning brown, usually in the hottest spot of the lawn. I also agree the other possibility is St Augustine decline (viral disease), where the leaf blade show yellow mottling.

St Augustine should be cut at a height of 2" to 3". Convince the homeowner to keep the lawn cut often enough so that you never remove more than 1/4 to 1/3 of the plant material at one time. Removal of too much plant material can shock the grass.

Thatch is a possibility in disease development. Anything that you can do to improve the health of the grass will aid in disease control. Too much thatch can cause the grass to develop a shallow root system that will not penetrate the soil. During drought times, the thatch area dries out first, weakening the turfgrass.

Moisture stress is another possibility to turfgrass problems.

      Jack,

Thank you sir. I know all too well about chinch bugs, they ate almost 1/2 of my lawn last year and I had to replace it. I don't think its that. I can't spray pesticide and I informed the customer as such.

Grass Master, thanks for stepping in. If the childish behaviour and or put downs continue, and no further information about the original question is added, I must regretfully ask that you lock this thread as I don't think anything more useful can come out of it and its wasting disk space.

One of the rules I have on this forum, that I haven't seen at any other forums is...

When the person (Author of) that starts a topic (New Thread), decides later & wants it locked, moved or deleted...

To a certain extent I feel that they are owner of that thread...

I do as they wish & I think it has worked out great so far!

I've said it many times before, "We Police Ourselves" & this is one of the ways we do it!

Please do not e-mail me, PM me or Post about it... End of discussion!
