I am treating a client's lawn this weekend for fire ants and I am going to use the Lesco product which is supposedly good for 4 months. I plan on using the Lesco product for this but see that there is a granuale product at Home Depot that supposedly works for up to a year and it has a suimailr cost. Anyone have any thoughts here? Anyone use either? What do you recommend?

There is a search feature here at lawnserviceforum. You might want to use it. Over and Out is a product made by Bayer Labs. the active ingredient is Fiponil the same as Top Choice made by Bayer Lab. Both can be applied at there respective label rates for a "" one year Residual"". However depending on the CEC of your soil they might not give you the control that is promised. The % of AI is different for each of these products.
Since you didn't name the product at Lesco I am not a mind reader. I did read your mind on Over and Out because it is the only Fire Ant control Product that is labeled for one year control sold at Home Cheapo.
Now if more people would do searches before asking question, this forum could move on to a higher level instead of rehashing the same old question over and over again.

I have answered this question about Fire Ant Control more than once on this and other forums. I will not retype the same answers again and again. I was not dumping on the guy when I suggested he do a search. Try and find another oar so you don't keep paddling your boat around my ship. You like your BHB are sailing on the port tack. It is time for me to holler "Starboard"

GrassMaster, Given my apparent lack of cranial endowment, I am having a hard time following you, but in the slow class we sing Barney everyday and it seems to help.
Seriously, RIC, I can only speak for myself here but I don't think anyone was trying to "start a war" as you put it. It's just that you come off like a smart ### know-it-all most of the time, so it can be hard to resist busting on you.
But then the same has been said of me so no harm done. I have a tested I.Q of 140 but NO common sence. It can be tough to be a genious among mere mortals, but that is what seperates us from the megalomaniacs.I just remember when I first found this forum. I had never used an internet forum so I did not realise at first what the protocol was. I replied to some really old posts thinking thay were topics of current discusion. Man, what a dolt! I realised my mistake almost immediately but you know what the nice thing about it was? No one felt the need to jump down my throat about it and try to impress the others with bluster about how inteligent they were because it really did not hurt anyone. Our # 1 concern should be the eventual beterment of the green industry through sharing of information. There will be many hiccups along the way. Be patient.
Ps.. if you feel the need to respond in a negative way, use the private message feature. That's what it's there for.If the grass is greener on the other side, move your fence.

You are right My attitude does Stink. But you and many other member here are not reason. At one time I had a very good attitude. There are however those who have driven me to this attitude. They fall into two categories.
1. Those without Licenses that are trying to get around the law. I have contempt for them because in my 60's I got a college degree so I could sit for the certification test. I paid in time and money for my License and feel they are stealing from me and other Licensed people.
2. There are two individuals that have hounded my posts. You yourself said "Light up Francis". They have acted like experts on warm season turf when in fact they are cool season lawn boys. When I called them on their misinformation, they have rebelled because they were enjoying being the Know-it-alls of all things. Now I wonder when Trout finds time to work, because he has close to 2,000 posts on this forum alone.
I have helped many on these forum and will continue to help them. But I will not be used by those who are not worthy of my knowledge.
Now the truth of the matter is I am just a beginner. I have only been in this business for just under 7 years. My knowledge of this industry is very limited. However I am a big fish in this small pond.
