  • Please recommend weed killer?

Have a client that wants me to spray her bull rock paths with a weed killing product. They are in fornt of her flower beds. Can anyone recommend something to use? Does Lesco carry something adn is it safer for teh plants near by?

If your certified to spray pesticides and herbicides you should be able to get a product recommended for that use where you get your other products. Otherwise you shouldn't be applying anything, weed killers can drift and kill everything else too. Am I stupid or what, but what is a bull rock path?

Here in Houston, many houses use a 1-3 inch brown/tan clored rock for landscaping beds and some walkways. It is commonly called bull rock.

There are several over the top grass killers on the market that are safe to use over or around desirable plant material. However,, read the label carefully to assure your plants are listed. ORNEMEC is one brand. For broadleaf type weeds you have really no alternative but to spray carefully on a calm day w/ a contact sprayer.Round up works well under the right conditions but a turf broadleaf herbicide is sometimes more forgiving.

I would recommend using Round-up under favorable conditions like:

          Days cooler than 90 degrees.
Wind speed less than 5 mph.
Day when you know it is not going to rain for a few days.

If you do this, you should avoid most chances of the product reaching undesireable areas. Just remember not to over spray, all you need to do is lightly wet the weed.

Lesco three-way is a great one to use as well. You will need to mix a sticker with it. It is also good to mix a tracer with it.

I'd go with Round-up. Just be careful. It can kill anything that you get the spray on.
