      New product

There is a new product on the market called Quicksilver. A little of this product goes a long way. Just mix the recommended amount with your broadleaf herbicide. I believe a small 8oz bottle will treat 10 acres. This product ruptures cell walls of broadleaf plants and allows the broadleaf herbicides to be uptaken easier for control. I have used this and it works well on tough weeds like chickweed and violets, which are common here in Wisconsin.

Since you have used it,How many shots does it take to totally kill off ground ivy and wild violets? How much does it cost and what is the application rate?

          OK here is a suggestion:

          DO NOTHING

Chickweed is a WINTER annual and most likely will be dead before the end of this month in zone 7.

One needs to actually know the life cycle of your pest before any chemical treatment is necessary.

This is what separates a real agronomist/horticulturist vs. a menace to society with a skid sprayer and a chemlawn gun.

            chickweed

There are 2 kinds of chickweed, common and mouse ear here in Wisconsin. It is not a big threat here but I believe Quicksilver will treat 8 acres and costs $140.00 for a 8 oz bottle. Check the label on http://www.greenbook.net/index.html.

We use it here on cool season grasses and it kills tough weeds with 1 application usually.

You might want to recheck that price. It is a lot higher than I pay. Try UHS or Helena.

                Price of Quicksilver

I actually get it from UHS, I think I am getting ripped off here....lol. Last time I checked it was $140 but haven't ordered any yet in 2004, perhaps the price has come down.
