Do the right thing for the environment and go to Lesco and put some 5-10-31 w/10%fe down at 1/2 lb of K.
Please give Francis a break, That was a Typo for Sure. He was meaning to type 32-8-38.
Now if he did put down that much P the fish would Float for sure. Many Local Governments are banning P from Fertilizer in their areas because of P pollution. Jacksonville Florida is one of those areas. Fertilize suppliers are now cutting back to 2% P in all their blends. We can only hope P does not make the TO GO LIST like Dursban and many other fine products. I never used Dursban a lot But it had it's place. Diazinon is on its last legs, Gone Jan. 1, 2005

Ok Greg where do I start, Noah Saw the dove with the olive branch.
Fertilizer is made up of 14 chemical elements and that plus Water and Air is what feeds plants so the can make their own food with the energy from the sun. Now the Three most important Elements or Primary Elements are N-P-K. The numbers on the top of the bag are the % of N-P-K.
Therefore 16-4-8 Fertilizer would mean 16% of the material in that bag would be Nitrogen. 4% of the material would be Phosphate and 8% would be Potassium. K is the Symbol for Potassium.
Now to better explain the % let us take a 100 lb bag of 16-4-8 Fertilizer. 16 pounds of that bag would be N or Nitrogen. 4 pounds of the bag would be P Phosphate. and 8 pounds of that bag would be K Potassium. A 50 lb bag is the most common way fertilizer is packaged. So to under stand how much material is in it we take haft those values because 50 lbs is haft of a 100 Lbs.
Therefore 2% P would mean for every 100 lbs of fertilizer, it would only have 2 lbs of Phosphate. Or in a 50 lb bag there would only be 1 lb of P Phosphate.
How There is a lot more involved math and chemistry in Fertilizer than I care to confuse you with here today. However I hope I have answered your question. But I can't help wondering are you licensed to spray?

Understanding how plants(grass) use fertilizer is important to knowing what Fertilizer to use when applying them Foliar(liquid).

You really have not given us enough information to answer you question. Mariner tried his best to explain that Iron alone is not the answer. However you have not explained what you are trying to achieve with just straight Iron. We need to know what other products you are applying and whether you are trying to just supplement or use Iron only as your fertilizer.
Knowledge of Base Salutation (soil Samples) and type of soil is also important to making a application Decision. Marco doses of Fertilizer Elements can be Toxic to your plants.
Now a short answer to your question might be. GreensKeepers on Golf Courses will use straight Chelated Iron to darken the color of their turf. However this is highly maintained Turf with lots of Chemicals. The problem with this approach is it does not last but about two weeks depending on the soil. Therefore it becomes very expensive in labor and product cost. However Golf Courses have a much larger budget than home owners

With out the other Elements of Fertilizer your turf would go into decline. How long it would take to go into decline depends on YOUR SOIL. Clay Soils hold fertilizer longer than Sandy soils. Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) is a chemical property of soil that a lab can measure. The higher the CEC the longer Iron might hold the dark green, and the longer it would take for your turf to go into decline.
Since I am not familiar with your soil I can not answer the question for you. However Francis was on the right track before he took a burn up. All plants need a balanced form of nutrients in order to express themselves to the fullest. Your soil may have enough nutrients to survive with Chelated 15-0-0 Fe alone. However I don't think so.
Therefore Check with your local County Extension Agent or do a soil test so you know where to start. Of course you could take a chance and just apply it.
