  • organic lawn care in Florida...

Is a huge untapped market. But don't for once think this thread is going the enviro wacko snake oil salesman way.

The real problem with 99% of your Saint Augustine lawns is that they are so full of thatch any natural organic practices are out of the question.

So what we have here is millions of acres of turf that needs to be verticut and core aerated first before any real organic practices can be implemented.

Which one of you will be the first one to step up to the plate and haul off the first cubic yard of stalons?

    Thank you Saint Piedra.

Yes Verticutting is a big business in Florida. I personal have a Ryan Mataway self propelled 11 horse model. I also have the Ryan IV Aerator which I would not recommend for small properties. To hard to turn around as compared to the split drum models.

However I have not done any Verticutting in about 3 years now. It is just too much work. There is a lot of other low hanging fruit to pick here in Florida. However you are correct about someone who is not scare of hard work making a killing.

The Key word here is "HARD WORK" Most verticut jobs will yield over a yard of stolon's per Thousand Sq Ft. Going Price is $ 0.10 per Sq Ft. Verticut season starts in February and runs until July in South Florida. Yes you can make enough to live year round.

The market is wide open for the right person. However it is TOO late to start this year. Anyone interested in getting into verticutting in Florida Should Contact me. I would be happy to get them started. Doing Verticutting right is a trick. Basic-ly setting the blade depth is the most important issue. Different areas of the yard need different depths.
