  • How to kill fescue?

I've finally got around to creating the landcape bed in the front yard after 2 years of asking from the wife. I wasn't sure where I was going to put the edge and planned on overseeding in that area. Anyway I ended up with some turf type fescue in the mulch bed. I figured no problem I'll just round up it away. The only problem is that it grows better now that I've put the non selective herbicide on it. I'm too lazy to dig it all out. Any other suggestions? Actually I've hit it twice with roundup and still growing strong as ever. You know if I didn't mean to spray it, that grass would have died because I would have wanted to keep it. Just the way it goes I guess.

Odd, Ive not heard of anyone having trouble killing fescue with round-up, glyphosate type products.

Try using Round-up professional, which is a much much stronger concentration than the roundup that is available through typical consumer outlets. In fact, consumer roundup is marketed by Scotts, and pro is marketed by Monsanto.

My experience with the Pro is that it takes longer to kill (3-7 days) but it is more thorough.

Lesco has a similar product, but I am unfamiliar with it.

Be sure to folow label directions. Being sure to apply when it is dry and sunny can make a big difference.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input. That was going to be my next step. I'll have to see what the time is for replanting after using the pro since I'll want to put down some ornamentals.
