  • How many people make over $50,000 a year?

How many of you probably make more the $50,000 a year in the chemical application business? I know there are a lot of variables, but I am just wondering if this is a realistic goal. Im sure it take a few years and hard work. I am thinking about leaving my full time job to build my part time business up. I see a lot of potiental in the lawn care service. I could also mow more lawns to bring in some extra income...PS live in Ohio

My honest answer? ... okay after using your absolute "smarts" I would envision earning around $250,000 to $500,000 (NET) (NET) (NET) take home in wallet pay. IF you're ambitious ... then (double) those numbers ... if you're the lazy type ... cut them in (half) ...

Footnote ... to me the sky is the limit ... so above forecast is for "marginal achievers" who go home at 5pm ...

Anybody who thinks this is not possible ... well then it's not. Stay in bed and "wish" your life away while others actually go out and do it. While you are laying there in bed feeling sorry for yourself ... try to remember way (way) back in your childhood the very first person you can remember who told you ... oh no son, you can't do that, it's not "in you".

    Phil

P.S. When will anybody see that to take the limits off ones life is to simply make up your mind and do it ... and your "blast off time" is when did you say?

      Yes.......

A friend of mine has a Applications Only business and me nets over $50k per year as the only employee. I think he could make more if he wanted to but he likes his hours (he works 8-months out of the year, 4-days a week)....i.e. he is happy with his income and having the free time he has to enjoy life.

He has been in business over 7 years.....not sure how long it took him to reach the $50k mark.

That's a good question ... if I had something of real value to share ( I guess everyday does) ... and ... and at the same time could arrange to go on prime time national TV and talk and show that "thing" ... and if that thing would have helped out maybe millions of people ... and having done that I imagine that would be a very satisfying and gratifying experience.

As much as I hate to admit it to myself, Phil does make some very compelling arguements to get big and go full tilt. I know that the only thing holding me back is myself and hearing it put so plainly in front of me is really a kick in the crotch, but a much needed one.

I don't have all the answers ... all I "think" I know is that time is money ... you can make money, lose it, replace it, save it, spend it ... those greenbacks ... but time can't be replaced (unless you die and science brings you back to life at square one again to start over ... hey not a bad idea?) so if time is money ... buy other peoples time with money and sell other peoples time to make money.

In other words spending a lot of your own time to make a lot of money, or a little bit of money is a total waste of time ... you do it only because there is no other choice ... at the time. Thats only when "money" is the thing that you are after ... some people spend their time and enjoy what they spend time on. I don't see how I could enjoy myself spending time going sailing, fishing or something if it wasn't me there doing it.

But as to business and having a money making business ... all I see when I look out there is sell as much time as you can ... hire as much "other peoples time" to work the gigs, make money ... and CONSERVE AND USE YOUR TIME DOING BETTER THINGS THAN WORKING FOR (MERE) (MONEY)

There are places to go, things to do, time to spend with your family, interesting things to explore, think of all the things and think of all the (experiences) in life you'd get out of life (and put into life) if you only had the time!

                That's what I'm talking about ...

Bottom line, Phil makes some very good points, it's out there, if you get off your azz and go get it, you can make it happen. You have to want it. No question, if you have motivation, get up and go, and a will to make it happen, you can succeed. Long hours, long days, planning, advertising, always looking for the oppertunity, going where others are not, will give you the edge. It's not gonna come running to you. Do your homework, the possibilities to succeed in this business are endless. My thoughts.

If I were out to make money ... really motivated to simply make money I would not look at having "exclusive rights" to my thoughts ... like ... this work is not good enough for me, that is, I don't like that kind of work, I like this kind of work ... maybe I'm wrong but if you want to make money forget what you like to do ... and think selling other peoples time doing almost anything ... period. I don't mean illegal stuff ... I mean well, shoot ... if you can make a buck from on-the-job portable toilets ... good on ya! Soon as you start with those "preconditions" things get well you know, like jobs, careers that are "tailored" just so ... such as a lifetime job working for G.M. or whoever and to your liking. If you're out to make money ... make it ... it doesn't matter how, when , what as long as it's legal and doesn't hurt others in the process.

Portable Toilets? ... no problem. Having 100 hot dog carts in the Big Apple? ... no problem. Owning shoe shine stands in Union Station Washington D.C.? ... no problem. Shoveling "crap" out of septic tanks? .. no problem. Owning a funeral home and dealing with dead bodies? ... no problem. Heck if you live in Georgia ... you might hire some guys to wrestle alligators ... LOL ... for a 25 cents admission fee ... and make a few bucks that way ...

Only thing is ... you are just one person ... so if you want to make money I reduce it all down to this ... sales & marketing ... own the work or rights to sell it or however you put it ... get others to do the "thing" ... any ... "thing". When you are working for money ... all money is clean, the bank doesn't care.

Thanks Phil.. It makes a lot of sense. I know with me its just a matter of focus and keep working hard at building the business. I guess I should focus on sales and marketing and have other guys doing the work...Even though I will make less at first.

I should also mention ... just be "yourself" ... first things first ... to keep a balance in your business and personal life while going after goals. It's one day at a time ... and remember too that nobody has full control of plans and goals, we all try our hardest to reach them but "stuff" happens. All we can do is try our best ... and everybody has views on what that means ... not to put a wet blanket on what's been said so far ... but worthy of mention is ... how many singers get to be "Rock Stars" and make it big? For every light on Broadway there is a broken heart ...

Inch by inch ... life is a cinch ... yard by yard ... life is hard. Just be yourself no matter what it means ... each of us has our own set of "pressures" to deal with every day. It's hard running a business, being married with kids, keeping up with everything ... all at once and doing a good job in each of those "departments" all at the same time. And "balance" each day is important to be happy. It's not always the person who finishes the race first that wins ... being happy and having a sense of pride in your work, being happy and at peace with yourself ... time for family and friends, time to reflect and enjoy just everyday simple things ...

Well anyway each of us has this "big mixture" of expectations ... hopes and dreams for ourselves. How many of them will come true? ... I don't know. All I'm kinda sure of is that we all have a limited time to do whatever it is we are to do.

Right now there are plenty of workers making $70,000 plus, in your own business I would think you could make two to three times that amount ... you have employees to crank out the jobs.
