That's a pretty broad statement. There are plenty of licensed applicators as well that don't know anymore than whatever 6 step program their local supplier recommends.

Think about throwing a period into your sentences every now and then.

Wow, last year greg6775 had been spraying for 8 years and was thinking of starting his own biz. http://www.lawnserviceforum.com/show...5775#post25775 Now a year later he's been in it for 10 years - by Christmas will he be a 20 year veteran? LOL

Let's see now, I've been a land-scraper for close to 18 years; and a WA licensed pesticide applicator for about 15 years. So does that make me an applicator who knows jack-sheet because I'm also a landscaper? or does it mean that the writer is running scared because he hasn't dotted all of his i's or crossed all of his tees?

Yes, there are too many landscapers / lcos who apply without proper licensing and probably should be fined for not being so. But as I read the quarterly newsletter published by WA State Dept of AG, I read about stupid applicators who "should know better" doing stuff that gets the attention of somebody who turns them in for a violation. Most of the fines are for improper record keeping and not wearing or providing adequate personal protection.

Huh??? I had one of my best account's lawn ruined by a major lawn spraying company (Mc-----). As far as having fertilizer in my truck... Ummm... I'm sure the laws are different in every state, but I was told by the Dept of Agriculture here in FL that there was NO license required for straight fertilizer except for retail sellers and manufacturers. They said as long as it has no herbicides in it then I can spread all I want. Crazy huh??? So I'll spread turf builder, and tell the customers they are better off doing the weed & feed themselves.

I don't apply weed & feed... That's what I was saying. I make it clear on all my flyers, website, and let my customers know that I'm not licensed for it, and will not apply it. Nor do I use weed killer sprays. (We pull 'em the old fashioned way.) Anyone who does it here without a license is dumber than a box of rocks due to the fact that most LCS (including ours) get regular random visits from ag inspectors to check the contents of vehicles. (It's up to a $10,000 fine per offense here.) First starting out we learned that lesson when we were taking a pump sprayer to spray at our shop, and got inspected... We were warned, and let go only due to the fact that the sprayer was empty, and obviously hadn't been used recently.

The Dept of Ag said (to me personally) it was okay to apply fertilizer with no pesticides or weed killers, but as nobody wants straight fertlizer it hasn't been an issue anyway.

Actually... Due to the fact that laws here are so touchy, and I always have a company vehicle in my driveway I don't even use weed & feed on my own lawn for fear of an ag inspector jumping out of the hedges yelling "Got ya!" but then again I found that if I take care of my lawn properly the weeds typically stay out anyway
