  • For Your Lawn Pictures......

Many of you guys take pictures of your lawns or landscaping, or at least you should. But I have read many posts where people don't know how to shrink them down properly for posting here, or on their website.

This is sweet. Here is a VERY easy program to use if you have Windows XP. It is made by Microsoft and it's FREE! It is very small to download, like 500Kb. Takes less than 2 minutes even on dial up.

Go to the site listed below....

Okay, over on the right hand side, you see a list of small programs. You want "IMAGE RESIZER". Click to download, then double click the icon on your desktop and it will install it.

Here's the beauty, now you can right click on any picture you have, and you see a command that says "Resize Picture" click that, and BOOM, you pick the size and it does it in about 1 second. AND, it saves the new file with the same picture name but adds (small) to it so you know it's been shrunk. It doesn't overright the original unless you want.

OH, and the best part? You can do 100 at one time...or more!!!

For this website, you want no bigger than 640x480 when you post them. For smaller shots on your website, 240x320 is okay, but then allow them to click to the larger 640x480 size..

I use a different program because I do a little sharpening after shrinking, but this program does a good enough job, and quickly. I use it quite a bit now.

Thanks a lot. It doesn't get much easier than that.

I took this picture of the fountain lake in Byrd Park, in Richmond last Thursday morning at 6:30 AM. Through the fog you can barely make out the paddle boats all locked up.

That's an interesting looking shot RRS. Do you do much picture taking? If so, what do you use? These days I am pretty much 100% digital. I'm not a pro, but learning. I get some decent shots here and there. I just upgraded to an 8 Meg Olympus (C-8080), but haven't had much time to get use to it yet.

Either way, I do like that picture. It's a shame that top portion is a bit bright, maybe a little Photoshop could tone that down a bit without messing up the rest of the picture.

To be honest I don't know much about photography, and I use a pretty crappy camera (Samsung Digimax 3.5). I've been carrying the camera around with me this year to capture pictures for my website I'm going to work on over the winter. Actually I just recently started experimenting with shutter speeds, exposure settings, etc. I've never really messed with photoshop a all. The camera came with MGI Photosuite and I've played around with that a little. That's about the extent of my photography skills.

Jack, I don't mind you poking fun using my screen name. But please refrain from posting bogus shots with our corporate name. That's not my picture, or our work. I let things go with your last thread trying to poke fun at our company by insinuating we hire 10 year olds.

For what it's worth, I have seen lawns like that, but they are usually mistakes. I have never seen anyone fertilize specifically to make stripes.

It gives the guy that was asking about drop vs broadcast spreaders an idea what the drop spreader coverage area looks like.
