Isn't it crazy? Tuesday here it was around 60. Thursday I was out applying salt to drives because of freezing rain. Tonight they are calling for a nice temp of -2. WTF?

The joys of living in the breadbasket!

It's called "Global Warming", and it isn't hogwash, or some out-there theory, it is a scientific fact.

Now, we can all sit around and debate whether this phenomenon was caused by mankind and the burning of fossil fuels, or whether this is just the natural progression of things, but it really doesn't matter HOW it came to be. Actually, the fossil record shows MANY instances of global warming, and ice ages (global cooling) to boot! For example... Ohio was at one time a tropical marsh. At a different time, it was covered under a mile of ice! Global warming? Global cooling?

Let me sum this up a little differently. Weather records have been kept here in the USA for just more than 100 years. That is but a mere slice of time in the grand scheme of things! So, we really haven't had enough time to collect data that would uncover weather trends that had a natural period of more than 100 years.

No matter how we arrived here, it is a fact that the planet is warming up. Even a SLIGHT change has HUGE implications (the Butterfly Effect). The biggest change has been seen in the average nighttime temperature. It has gone up quite a bit, and will induce major changes in the weather.

For a real good understanding of the subject, one needs to have a grasp on the principles of chaos. A good book to start with woud be "Chaos" by James Gleick. It explains things in a fairly easy to comprehend fashion. Once you have an understanding of what is going on, you will never look at the world in the same way again.
