one of our trucks is a silveraldo 1500 sportside 7.5 fisher min mount, never any problems, plows good.

i do have one on one now. a 90 ford f 150 having some 4x4 issue's on monday though i bought a 2000 silverodo 4.8 engine regular cab long bed 4x4 want to put a plow on it this summer. will this moter handel it.?

One of my trucks is a 1500 Silverado but it has the 5.3 in it. Plenty of power for plowing and decent mileage running from place to place. i cant say anything about the 4.8 though. I cranked the torsion bars up on the 1/2 tons as well.

I have a 97 1/2 ton 4x4 with a 4.3L v-6. To be honest, I'm afraid to mount a plow onto it, but I might consider it for occasional use only (like residential drives).

I've asked around whether the truck could handle a plow or not and I got mixed feedback. Some say no, others say yes. Those saying no tend to be the plow guys who wouldn't use anything less than a 3/4ton truck whereas the 'yes' guys seemed to use 1/2 tons.

Personally, I prefer to plow with a 3/4ton, only because the truck is more adaptive to heavy use. It isn't so much the engine as it is the transmission/4wheel drive components/suspension.
