  • Charging for clearing driveways

I know the correct answer to this question would be whatever the market will bear. I only intend to offer this to my current mowing clients but how do you charge for clearing driveways?

I am inclined to charge a flat fee based on the amount of time that I think it would take; similarly to the way I charge for mowing. $25 min and up.

How does this rate/compare to how you are doing it?

    Cost of snow blowing

We do about 30 residentuals in our area, and we charge a flat fee for each driveway, right around 30 dollars for a 2 car drive. Of course the longer, or bigger the drive, the more money they are. Cars are also a problem, we only use snowblowers on all of our driveway, because most of them do not want us to use the plows, I have many customers that insist that we do not use our plows. I know that there will be others on here that will say stay away for doing the residentals, there is no money in it, but when you can get 30/40 dollars on a drive and have a few right next to each other like I do, stop once, a few minutes blowing with two blowers, I have another guy who works for me, and we are out of there, 4 house done in under 30 minutes, and 160 in my pocket. I can not make that in my plow. Not even on a deep snow on my commericals. I am truly loyal to my customers, because they have me do all of their work, grass, weeds, trim bushes, move boxes, paint, everything they need, and they have never said a word about a bill, they are just happy to see me there. It all depends on how you want them to treat you. I know there are those out there saying you need to make this or make that, but I am still human, and like to help the older folks out. I make enought to keep my house warm, pay for my expences, and treat my wife and kids to many things, but also keep my costs done to my customers. Find out what you need to make off of each one, and then go from there. A customer that has you doing everything, is better than just showing up each time it snows and charge them 20 dollars a push in their truck ,and end up doing more damage to their lawn.

I charge $35 for a small residential drive. This includes clearing of thier front walk/entrance. We use our plows; stake the lawn and other obstacles before winter and its all good. No freakin' snow here this winter though. Only had 2 full pushes so far!
