    Hello All

I have had my lawn care clients ask me if I will be doing snow removal and I was wondering if I should price by (the visit), or (the month) or (the season Dec1 to March 31/08 ).The equipment I have is snowblower and shovel and how much I should charge them per hour or visit or season. This is all new to me so all the the info I can get will be appreciated.

    Thanks Kevin

Well, decide what you need to make per hour and estimate how long it will take you to finish depending on how much snow you get. We charge minimum $35 per push for a small resi drive. Per push pricing will probably be the easiest route for the first year. Don't forget to give a higher price for more snow. If you give only one price based on 4 inches, you'll be screwed when you get a big storm. If you go the hourly route you'll want something like a half hour minimum charge. Hope that helps a bit.

Well I was thinking $35 as my minimum that is 1" to 4" by hand ,then i was thinking $45 if the snow is between 4" to 8" with the blower and $55 over 8" with the blower, I am not sure what i should charge per hour with the snowblower. The reason I am asking i have a client is asking me to give a price and i think it should take about 45 minutes with 1" to 4" of snow by shovel.I am not sure if i should price him by the month or by the visit. I was wondering what going rate is for a snowblower because i do not have a truck with plow. i was wondering if $45 per hour with the blower is to cheap or should i charge a higher price with a blower because of wear and tear on the blower?

P.S I think his laneway is about 40 feet long 1 1/2 car

      Thanks Kevin

I don't do snow removal or anything, but to me the price's sound resonable. Here in wisconsin it seems like it's around 50-70 an hour, but that's with a plow. But regardless. Driveway's seem to be about 35-50 each and that's not even with 8 inches that's just 5 or so. So I think your prices are right. Tell them to find someone to do it cheaper or pay up. They'll likely pay up, unless the prices are much different there in canada.

You said it....Cheap Canadiens. That price is reasonable are you kidding me. No matter what you do you will always get a handful of people who expect something for nothing. Screw em eh! Do it per visit. The one problem I see is that if it were 6-8" I can blow through that with my truck and do it only once, where you on the other hand did it twice. My commercial lots are every 2".....my residentials are higher. No residential customer wants there driveways cleared every 2".
