  • Do you mow 1st, then edge/trim? What order do you use?

    Hi there everyone!
I was just curious what the pros think: do you mow the lawn 1st, then edge and trim? Or, do you edge 1st and blow everything onto the lawn so the mower can pick it up while mowing?

Thanks for your replies! Have a GREAT day!

I edge first so that if there is any dirt clumps left by the edger the mower will grind them up. Mowing is second like I said. I trim last because there might always be some spots that the mower did not do a very well job on (ex. low spots in ground, corners, edge of pavement)

Plus as the day goes on I like to break all the walking of edgeing and trimming up with mowing in between the two.

I get accounts because other LCO's mow then trim. People hate long grass clippings all along the edge of their lawn edging that they paid for or spent hours doing themselves. If you have a great personality, are interesting, and they love you like a brother or long lost son then you can get away with mow then trim. Otherwise trim and mow.

I know where my wb can mow and can't mow, so I trim first, then mow over the clippings. Just like the GrassMaster. Detail counts ya know.

I never edge before I mow because when you take the mower over your clean edge it can push the grass down make the edge look bad.

I don't see what you guys are talking about by there being long clippings left on the lawn if you edge after mowing. And there is no way i'm going to break up edging and trimming by putting mowing in the middle of them. That just sounds crazy to me. They go hand in hand and would waste a lot of time back tracking if done seperate.

I always Mow then trim and edge. I understand what was said earlier, but if you see grass laying on top of just mowed grass, this hardly happens, but if it does, I hit the grass with my backpack when blowing off. Grass disappears and the edges look great.
