  • scag freedom z

i was just about set on getting a scag tiger cub with a briggs engine, 24 hp, 48 inch deck, but then i looked into the freedom z. i can get the tiger cub for 5995, 6595 if i step up to a kawasaki. the freedom z with a kawasaki was 4995 i believe. is the tiger cub really that much better. it has dual hydros whereas the freedomz has a transaxle, thicker deck, better spindles.
also, if i do go with a tiger cub, is the kawasaki worth the extra $500 or $600 dollars?

While I do not have a freedom z I do have a tiger cub and it is built tough. I wouldent suggest the freedom unless you a a homeowner with limited yards. I believe that the freedom was designed for private use and something to get a foot in the homeowner marketplace. As far as the kawi or kohler vs. the briggs I would suggest the kawi or kohler. Those two engines unlike the briggs intek are designed for industrial use and are well worth the extra money. My .02.

i'll only be mowing my own yard. it's about 3.5 acres. i'm wondering if i'd be better off with the freedom z with a kawasaki for 1500 or so less than a tiger cub with a kawasaki. are all the other features of the tiger cub worth the money? i'm never going to get into the mowing business or anything like that, just my own yard. i'd like to think i can get one of these scags and never have to buy another mower.

i talked to my friend who is a pro lawn jockey and he says i should get the 48" scag walk behind. he's been out here and seen the yard firsthand. i'm going to go with that. now it's just a matter of buying it.
