Don't ask them anything. Tell them the cost of doing buisness is rising just like everything else in life. They should know that and understand. If they don't, let them find a cheaper cutter who probably doesn't know what his cost is for doing business. Those guys don't last too long.

i implemented a fuel surcharge back in may. i just included a letter with each bill. now, i only went up $3/month. if your having a major increase you might want to wait till next season and just deal with it right now.

is been one year servicing them. but after this $5-$10 increase a month i will only increase the 3% after that. what do u guys think?

do i tell them in person or send a letter?

I send a letter every winter asking them if they want to continue service for the upcoming season or not. I also tell them at this time if the price is going up and what the price will be.
