    Luxor Landscaping....
I have not found the ideal vehicles for me still looking at this time being, so idk the milage.....

I'm thinking of a 1999-current Grand cherokee.... I don't like the old models of the Jeep GC b4 the year 1999, models 1990-1998....

Also the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, was 1st produced in 2001, so i guess that answers your question of what i'm looking for.....anywhere from 2001-current

P.S. i have a $20k limit... so w/e year i can get for the bang of the buck

      RRS.....
My budget allows for a vehicle in the $20k range (max)..... The reason i'm considering the Sport Trac is due to it being a crew cab.... I really only like Chevy's and Ford's.... Chevy makes a vehicle they call Colorado but it was first produced in 2004, due to that the price is still high even on used vehicles.... Sport Trac dates back to 2001 so you can get a nice crew cab SUT for the mids $12k range (2001 model price)

I am currently in the market for a used truck to start my LCO.

I really don't understand why a larger truck is an absolute must. My plans are to stay realatively small for a few years only hauling a W/B, and other small equipment - only doing mowing, trimming, ..the basics.

Like A+ I will be using the truck for personal use also.

If making money and cutting down on the overhead is the bottom line - why on earth would I want to go get a gas guzzler at a time when gas prices are apparently about to shoot through the roof? What is so godawful bad about using a decent S-10 or Ranger?

          A+...

a 2001+ Cherokee with less than 75k miles would be good.. get a limited if u want the bling.. they should be on lots right around 20,, and there is generally a $2,000 markup on suv's, especially a limited.

the newer the sport trak trac the better.. they will have more modest prices than the GC's.

the bigger question is what is going to happen to gas prices.. I've been hearing #'s floating around 80$ a barrel !! If that is the case.. im thinking the 4.0 V6 is a good bet. They also made the GC's with V6's too... If its the same inline 6 i had in my 00' Wrangler... its a good engine.. and i think is actually a General Motors engine ( if i remember correctly, correct me if im worng someone )

Now for some older brother advice..

If i were in your shoes, I'd get a used 1/2 ton pick up with leather if you want the bling... It WILL be better for your future! Try to place yourself ABOVE the materialistic nature of high school. Who's who, whos got what, bla bla bla... when u graduate.. u realize ( very quickly ) that nothing there EVER mattered..

As for the woman, i only get with women who are smart ( dumb ones drive me insane ) and if you find a smart woman.. she will have unwavering respect and admiration for you running your own business.. which very few actually do in high school. Place yourself above all that crap and think where you want to be 10 years from now! Do what is best for that.

...and im spent! Good luck to ya !

Amen to that! I had two vehicles when I was his age.... a 79 dodge cargo van (ex-ma bell) and an 85 Toyota pickup w/ tool boxes and conduit rack. THAT will pare away the materialistic bimbos from the ones worth dealing with!

'79 F100 here. Only one girl would ride with me and she was the only one I wanted in there anyway.

A+ if you seriously have a $20K budget. Look at used 1/2 ton trucks specifically Chevy 1500's that have the 5.7L.

                    Luxor Landscaping....
you offered some real good advice..... As for the 2001 GC i think you could get a 2001 limited w/75k miles for $12,500.... more realistic around $13,900, thats what your gonna see with the dealer sticker price... you'll never be able to get that vehicle setup for $12,500 from a dealer, mark up and more mark up.... i guess they gotta make a living too.... $20k you should be able to get an 2003 GC, loaded w/most factory options.....

Anyways, i know this was not your main thought behind the prices, and such..... you were givin more meaningful advice, i was just givin my $.02 on the price checks.....

Are you leaning more towards the GC?

And for the half ton pickup, i'll buy a full size truck down the road, maybe a year or two.....I know the advantages behind the 1/2 ton pickups, but for rite now i want a half breed of a pickup & an suv

Damn Dawg, if you have a $20k limit, you could be looking at better vehicles than the Sport Trac or Jeep. Both have quality issues.

$20k would get you into a brand new 4x4 Frontier. V6 with 265hp and tugs 6500 pounds. That's extra cab also. 5 year warranty.

You want bling bling? Raise it up and put some 33" Mickey Thompsons on it! And yeh, you'll get some!

P.S. I can relate to what you want, even though I am quite a bit older than you, I know what you're talking about.

I need to dig up a picture of my 'ride' from school. I think you would like it!

why is everyone so sold on nissan frontiers? i really could give a crap for one, no offense for anyone i hope....

We have a 93 GC Limited. Full time 4 wheel drive, 8 cyl. Don't know the towing capacity but Jeep has been 4 wheeling and towing longer than any other SUV on the market. Chrysler did one thing smart when they bought Jeep, they kept building them the same way. It is definetly a GAS GUZZLER. If the Ford is made on the car line (like the explorer)....RUN AWAY, on the other hand, if it's made on the truck line, it should be fine. If you realy want a GC, go with GC not Limited, get 6 cyl. Nisan makes a good truck, so does Toyota and they are both better on gas than American makes of the same size. They tend to last longer too.
In the end, it's your present, your truck, and we don't have to drive it. Therefore, it's your decision. Good luck with it.

                            Just my 2 cents
