  • What would it take?

or How much would it take for you to step down from your business and be hired on as a department head or lead to another company?

  • #2
Oh man, that's a tough one to answer. I've never really thought about that before. Money wise, I'm just not sure. But it would take a lot of persuading for me to consider it. I'm not speaking of the money factor, but just the thought of actually making such a huge change in jobs and job requirements.

Plus, I hate getting up real early! My employees wouldn't mind starting sooner than I would, but they have learned to just stop mentioning it!

I think it would have to be a set pay, plus a percentage of sales and job completions done at or under budget.

I'm not sure I'd trade my job to work for someone else...I've always hated having to work under someone, and in this business I'm the main guy, so I don't think anything could get me to quit this job to become a department head of another company..

Secure? You know what he makes? What if taking that job made him take a cut in pay?

I'm with Bobby. I didn't start my own company JUST for the money. EQUALLY important to me is my freedom, the ability to do as I wish, when I wish. If I ever worked for "the man" again, sadly, "the man" would be in grave danger. I'm too set in my ways to listen to someone tell me what to do.

Hey I finally met up with these people.
I was just offered a job starting at $24-25k salary a year cutting grass with the opportunity to move up! I’ll have to think about this a while.

Some people tell me it must be nice to be your own boss- I tell them I don't have one boss but about 80. They don't really understand this until I explain it to them. It is nice to be able to choose who you work for and set the prices for what the services are worth. It would take a lot for me to stop doing this.

                          Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I walked on a chance to be a lead gatherer for a huge corporation in Branson, MO. I would have walked into $60k+ a year, full benefits. For me it would have been a step up. I had just lost my job and decided that I was going to go into this line of work. I went out and bought my truck and equipment. That is when I learned of this job. The owner told me that if I ever got tired just to give him a call. There are times like now when its so darn slow I wish that I had, but I love being in the sun during the summer and not really answering to anyone but myself. It feels good not to answer to the man!
